Who is Steiger Performance?

My name is Jon Steiger, and I am the owner of Steiger Performance. Steiger Performance is a small design and fabrication shop which was initially born out of my frustration at the overall poor aftermarket support of late model Dodge trucks during the late '90s. The "straw that broke the camel's back" was when Mopar Performance released the 4bbl MPI intake manifold, but did not fully support it - it was left up to the individual to figure out a way to make it work. I purchased one for myself and created all the missing pieces to make it work. After doing this, I decided to offer these components as a kit to other Mopar truck owners along with an illustrated install guide.

My intent for Steiger Performance was to use it to develop products which are generally not available on the aftermarket, or that have a different twist on already available products. Whenever I create something for one of my own vehicles, if I feel there may be a wider market for such an item, I try to develop it in such a way that I can reproduce it and offer them to my fellow enthusiasts so that they can perform the same modification.

Ever since I started participating in various Internet based forums around 1993 or so, I realized that I enjoyed helping out my fellow automotive, motorcycle and aviation enthusiasts. I see Steiger Performance as an extension of that; a way of helping others, not just with words and advice, but with actual physical products.

My business philosphy is simple - to deal with folks in an honest, straightforward manner and provide my customers with real value for their money. I do not get involved in the stupid marketing hype that seems so prevalent these days. I'm not here to "trick" people into buying my products, to or convince you that you should buy something which you don't really need. I simply put these items out there, describe them to the best of my ability, and if a particular product sounds like something that would be useful to you, then that's great! I want you to be happy with your purchase, so much of my focus is on quality. I want to build durable products which deliver on their promise, while also keeping costs reasonable. If I feel that quality would be compromised in order to manufacture a product at a marketable price, then I will simply not produce that particular product, and will move on to something else instead.

I hope you will find something of value to you in these pages. If you have any questions, problems, or comments, please feel free to get in touch!

Shop Photos

Steiger Performance operates out of a 3800 sq. ft. facility located near Forestville, NY. All of my product design and development is done here. I also manufacture all of my products right here in the shop, with the exception of a few components that I subcontract out for specialized machining. I personally build, package and ship every Steiger Performance order myself. So, if there is a problem I need look no further than myself - the buck stops here.

A few photos of the shop, circa 2003. It has changed quite a lot since then, but I haven't gotten around to taking updated photos. I'm in the process of making some changes to the shop so I will post some new photos once the construction is complete.

I do not have a traditional "brick and mortar" store; all sales are done via the Internet because I am not equipped to handle "walk-in" customers.

The shop is situated on a couple hundred rural acres with private trails, ravines and our own mud pit. A couple times a year, the shop becomes "DML HQ" as it hosts the annual Dakota Mailing List "BBQ and Trail Ride" and "Daktoberfest" events. (See the DML Meet Reports page for details and pictures of past years' events.)
