Since its creation, the Steiger Performance web site has has a "News" list on the main page, to alert people to new products, current developments, etc. To reduce clutter, the main page only has the most recent items. As time goes by, the older news items spill over onto this archive page. Please bear in mind that some of these archived news items may no longer be relevant. For example, some of the new product announcements in the list below refer to products which have subsequently been discontinued. This page simply shows the news items as they were originally posted, for historical reference.

09/04/2013 - WEB SITE CRASH
On 9/2/2013, the web server that hosts steigerperformance.com experienced a severe hardware failure, requiring the web site to be rebuilt on completely different hardware. As such, many of the web site features are not currently working. I apologize for the inconvenience - I am working to get the web site back up to 100% as soon as possible!


04/23/2013 - WEB SITE OUTAGES
Due to some Internet service provider hardware issues, the Steiger Performance web site has been intermittently available as of April 22, 2013. A technician is scheduled to diagnose the problem on April 23, 2013 and I am expecting the web site to return to full functionality today. Express mail orders will take priority, so far I have been able to ship orders placed via domestic Express Mail in 1 business day. Although there is a note on each product page to explain that the kits may become backordered, I just wanted to post here to let everyone know that this is indeed currently the case. 10/17/2011 - INVOICE/RECEIPT NOTICE FYI
On Saturday 10/15, high winds in our area took out the power to the Steiger Performance shop. When it came back on, it fried the printer that creates our invoices and receipts. Its going to take a few days to get that equipment back up and running, so we've got a temporary backup in place until then. The only catch is that the invoices which are printed until then will just be on a plain white piece of paper, rather than our usual invoice.


10/15/2011 - WEB SITE OUTAGE
At approximately 6:40pm Eastern time on Sat 10/15, the Steiger Performance web site became inaccessible. High winds in our area knocked out the power, and although the Steiger Performance shop was up and running via our backup generator, the power outage knocked out our ISP's repeaters. Technically, the web site was still up and running, but traffic from the Internet was unable to reach it. If you are reading this message, then the utility company has managed to restore the power and we are back on-line. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.


09/27/2011 - SHIPPING DELAYS
Many of the window regulator repair kits are currently backordered. I am working to catch up, building and shipping the kits in the order they have been received, however please be aware that it may take anywhere from a few days to a week or so from the time an order is placed to when it will be ready to ship. 09/06/2011 - PLEASE ALLOW SOME EXTRA TIME FOR ORDERS TO SHIP
The Steiger Performance shop is back up and running after taking a week off for some much needed R&R. I am currently working to get the backlog of orders processed and shipped out. 08/12/2011 - STEIGER PERFORMANCE WILL BE CLOSED THE WEEK OF 8/28-9/3
We will be closed during the week of August 28, 2011 through September 3, 2011. Good news! Canada Post employees are returning to work, and USPS will begin accepting mail to Canada again starting Tuesday 6/28/2011.


06/18/2011 - CANADA POST UPDATE #2
The Canada Post strike continues, so USPS has stopped accepting mail bound for Canada as of today. If you are interested in placing an order to be shipped to Canada, probably the best bet would be to wait a bit and see if this situation resolves itself soon, or if you are in a hurry, contact me to let me know which item(s) you would be interested in and I can give you a FedEX or UPS quote.


06/17/2011 - CANADA POST UPDATE
Canada Post is still not delivering mail, but the Canadian Government is considering legislation to end the lockout, so USPS is still accepting packages bound for Canada. However, please be aware that at this point, USPS is simply holding the packages and will pass them off to Canada Post once the lockdown has ended.


06/15/2011 - NOTE FOR CUSTOMERS IN CANADA
Due to labor strikes, Canada Post has suspended operations nation-wide, and the USPS has announced that if the strike has not been ended by June 16, 2011, mail service to Canada will be suspended. Steiger Performance uses the USPS to ship orders into Canada, so this will have a direct impact on folks in Canada who are interested in placing an order. If the situation is not resolved soon, there are other options (UPS or FedEX) however these are considerably more expensive than the postal service. Hopefully the situation will work itself out soon, but I wanted to post a note to make my Canadian customers aware of this potential problem.

05/12/2011 - SHIPPING NOTICE FOR FRIDAY 5/13
There won't be any outgoing shipments on Friday 5/13, so any orders placed after approximately noon Eastern time on Thursday 5/12 will not be able to ship until Saturday 5/14 at the earliest. This delay will not have much effect on First Class or Priority Mail orders, however please bear this in mind if you are planning to use Express Mail delivery.

01/17/2011 - FEDERAL HOLIDAY
Please note that because Martin Luther King Day on January 17 is a federal holiday, post offices are closed and thus any orders placed over the weekend will not be able to ship until Tuesday 1/18 at the earliest.

01/03/2011 - USPS SERVERS BACK ONLINE
The USPS servers have come back online, so I have re-activated the real time shipping system in the shopping cart. However, if you run into any difficulties while trying to add shipping in the cart, please let me know.

01/02/2011 - USPS SERVERS WENT DOWN TODAY
The United States Postal Service servers went down on Sunday January 2. The USPS shipping rates were scheduled to change today so I am assuming something went wrong with the changeover. My shopping cart uses their servers to calculate the shipping cost for orders, so when the USPS servers go down, orders cannot be processed. I've temporarily modified the shopping cart to use fixed shipping tables. These are not as accurate as obtaining the shipping price directly from USPS, but this will at least allow orders to go through. If you run into any problems with the cart calculating shipping for your order, please let me know.

If you have been trying to place an order on Sunday January 2 but were getting an error during the shipping calculation, please give it another try as it should be working for you now. Sorry for the inconvenience!

10/13/2009 - USPS PRIORITY MAIL TRACKING FIXED
USPS has fixed their tracking system problem

10/07/2009 - USPS PRIORITY MAIL TRACKING UPDATE
I received a reply from the USPS. They are aware of the problem and are working on a fix. In the meantime, they gave me a workaround, which I have used to update my order status system so that tracking will work for the "0550" series labels, and it will be able to provide tracking numbers that work for future orders as well. So, if the tracking number you were provided is coming up with an error message that says there is no record of the item, use the Check Order Status link to pull up your order and you should find that the tracking link now works.

10/04/2009 - USPS PRIORITY MAIL TRACKING IS BROKEN
It appears that the US Postal Service has recently changed their priority mail labels. The label numbers used to start with the numbers "0103". As of 9/30/09, the labels begin with the numbers "0550". Unfortunately, tracking at the USPS web site for the 0550 series labels does not appear to be working. When you place an order via the Steiger Performance web site, you will receive an e-mailed shipping notification with tracking info as usual, but please be aware that if the label number of your package begins with "0550", you will probably not be able to track it.

I have notified the US Postal Service about the problem, and I will be sure to post here with any relevant updates.

08/11/2009 - WNY FLOODING CREATES TEMPORARY DELAY
A view of some of the damage to King Road, just a mile away from the Steiger Performance shopSome massive thunderstorms and even a tornado or two hammered the Western New York area on Sunday night and Monday morning, causing considerable flooding and damage. You may have heard about it, since the governor declared it a disaster area and the storms/damage made the national news. The Steiger Performance shop did not suffer any water damage to speak of, but power outages took down our web site and ordering system as well as causing a delay filling orders which were placed over the weekend. If you placed an order from Saturday 8/8 through Monday 8/11, the shipment of that order was delayed by one day. Everything is basically back to normal now though and all of the delayed orders from the weekend have been shipped as of today (Tuesday). My apologies if the delays and web site outage caused any inconvenience.

05/16/2009 - JEEP LIBERTY KIT COMING SOON
I've developed a repair kit for the rear windows of the 2002-2005 Liberty (it will also work on some 2006 models). A number of units have been in the hands of beta testers for a couple of months now and the kits should be available for purchase within a few days.

I do not have an ETA on a kit for the front windows as of yet. As a reminder, although I am no longer in need of rear window regulators for prototyping purposes, if you've got an '02-06 Liberty with a broken front regulator, I'd be interested in taking a look at it. 07/17/2007 - DISCONTINUED PRODUCT - MPI INTAKE MANIFOLD INSTALL KIT, FUEL RAIL SPACERS AND BOLTS
Now that the 2bbl MPI intake manifold has been on the market for a few years, the demand for the 4bbl install kits has basically declined to the point where I can no longer justify the expense of stocking the parts required to put these kits together. This was a product that served an important purpose during that time period between the introductions of the 4bbl and 2bbl intakes, but now that the reasons for installing the 4bbl version have basically dried up, this install kit is one that time has passed by. This is a somewhat sad day for me as the MPI kit was basically the product that created Steiger Performance. Back when the 4bbl was on the bleeding edge and there was very little direct Mopar support for installing them on our trucks, I'm glad I was able to play a role in helping folks to achieve that goal. Many thanks to everyone who purchased an install kit, and in so doing, helping to bring Steiger Performance to life!

6/11/2001 - ORDER STATUS FEATURE ADDED
Steiger Performance customers can now check on the status of their orders via the web site. I know what its like to place an order and wonder what's happening. :-) With this feature, you can check on your orders and see how it is progressing, what is going on in the event of delays, get tracking numbers where applicable, etc. In order to check on the status of an order, you will need to know the order number.

1/31/2001 - MPI KITS IMPROVED AGAIN
MPI install kits for '92-'95 engines (SP01001, SP01002) now come with EGR bolts. The kits have always contained an EGR blockoff plate, but you were required to re-use your stock hardware. The new bolts are grade 8 steel with a black phosphate finish. An additional benefit over the stock bolts are their larger head which should ease installation and removal as well as eliminating the annoying tendancy of the stock bolts to round off. The prices of the kits are unaffected.

1/22/2001 - VIRTUAL SHOPPING CART
SteigerPerformance.com now features a virtual shopping cart. This is a huge improvement over the old "one click" PayPal ordering method. An immediate benefit is that MPI kit purchasers can now specify the configuration of their vacuum tree on-line; no need to place your order and e-mail me with the config seperately!

11/4/2000 - MPI KITS IMPROVED
All MPI install kits now come with four locator studs which should greatly help when dropping the intake manifold down onto the engine. By making sure the intake will be lined up perfectly the first time, they eliminate the chance that you will need to move the intake after it touches the block. This should help to ensure a solid, leak free install. Also, those kits that require the ECT gauge temperature sensor to be relocated now also come with a couple of ring style (crimpable) electrical terminals which will allow you to ensure a good ground for the sensor. The installation guide (now version 1.10) has been updated to reflect these changes.
The prices of the kits remain the same as before.

10/3/2000 - 4BBL INSTALL KIT IN HOLDING PATTERN
I apologize for the delay in releasing the 4bbl throttle body install kits. I thought they'd be done by now, but I've been waiting for some items from the machine shop which I need before I can proceed any further. As soon as they get caught up and get my parts to me, the prototyping will commence! (If you would like to be notified when the kit is ready, please send an e-mail message to 4bbl@steigerperformance.com.)
Note: Prototyping for the 4bbl install kits has been permanently discontinued.

10/3/2000 - MPI PASSES SNIFFER!
I suspected it would, but have had to wait until an MPI equipped truck's inspection came due in an area which does more than just a visual inspection. That has finally happened, and now we have the cold, hard facts in black and white! :-) For the details, please check out the Emissions sub-section of the MPI Benefits page.
